At a ceremony held for the third time on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays, and attended by representatives of municipalities across Varna Province, institutions, organisations, and partners with whom the Regional Administration actively collaborates on projects or other initiatives, the District Governor of Varna, Professor Andriyana Andreeva, presented the annual Achievement Awards. This year, the awards were given in two categories – “Institutional Cooperation” and “Individual Achievements.”

In the “Individual Achievements” category, three annual awards were presented. One of these was awarded to Prof. Vasil Nikolov, head of the research team investigating the prehistoric salt-production and urban centre of Provadia-Solnitsata. The award recognises the long-term efforts of his team of archaeologists in uncovering and promoting one of Europe’s most remarkable prehistoric monuments – Provadia-Solnitsata – an archaeological discovery of great significance for science, society, and cultural tourism in Varna Province, as well as for its integration into the European Cultural Route “Historic Salt Heritage.”

The award on behalf of Prof. Nikolov was received by the Mayor of Provadia Municipality, Dimo Dimov.
