European Archaeology Days
During the past weekend (12–14 June 2026), Provadia-Solnitsata took part in the European Archaeology Days for the second consecutive year. The event was marked with a special programme featuring a variety of activities. On 12 June 2026, the poster exhibition "The Lords of Salt" was opened at the Municipal Art Gallery in Provadia. The exhibition was presented by Academician Vasil Nikolov and Nikolay Hristov, Director of the Historical Museum of Provadia. As part of the display, three-dimensional models of archaeological sites and production facilities, created by students from Ivan Vazov Primary School No. 2 in Provadia, were also exhibited. Throughout the week leading up to the event, an online challenge was held on Facebook for our youngest followers. Children who wished to participate were invited to present their own interpretation of some of the most intriguing and mysterious artefacts discovered at Solnitsata in recent years. We received many creative, beautiful, and inspiring artworks. The entries that received the highest number of votes from our followers were awarded prizes and certificates for first place in the competition. During all three European Archaeology Days, Provadia-Solnitsata welcomed hundreds of visitors. Specially for the occasion, we prepared a game for young artefact hunters, in which, to our surprise and delight, some of our older visitors also enthusiastically took part.
