Nikolay Hristov

Nikolay Hristov was born in the town of Provadia. He graduated from Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" with a degree in history and geography (1988 - 1993), completing his thesis in Medieval Archaeology. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Tourism оrganization from the university’s Free Faculty (1990 - 1991). Since 1993, he has worked as a history teacher at the high school in his hometown. In 2005, he became the director of the newly established Historical Museum – Provadia. In 2012, he was awarded the "Golden Age" prize by the Ministry of Culture. He is the author and co-author of numerous academic and popular-science texts and publications.
His interests are focused on the study of the ancient and medieval history of the Provadia region. He has participated as deputy director and field archaeologist in rescue archaeological excavations across the country. Since 2005, he has been a member of the research team at the prehistoric salt-production and urban center Provadia-Solnitsata, and since 2011, he has served as field director of the same team. He is the leader and coordinator of more than 10 projects funded by the Ministry of Culture, related to the Historical Museum in Provadia and the archaeological site Provadia-Solnitsata.
