Maria Slavkova
Born in Sofia, she completed her secondary education in 2007 at the Vocational High School of Chemical and Microbiological Technologies. In 2014, she earned a Master's degree in "Restoration" from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia.
Through the Erasmus program, she received training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata (Italy) and the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao (Spain). In 2013, she specialized in ceramic restoration at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy.
Her professional experience includes participation in archaeological excavations at various prehistoric and other sites in Bulgaria and abroad. Artifacts restored by her have been featured in permanent and temporary exhibitions in museums both nationally and internationally. She is the author of independent publications and a co-author of several scientific studies. She actively participates in national and international conferences and forums related to restoration and cultural heritage.
Since 2009, she has been a member of the research team investigating Provadia-Solnitsata, the oldest known salt-production center in Europe, as well as the early Neolithic settlement of Slatina (Sofia). In 2022, she joined the team researching the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis. That same year, she began working as a restorer at the Regional Historical Museum – Varna.
